DPAU
Dementias Platform Australia (DPAU) is led by UNSW Sydney’s Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) and established in partnership with Monash Secure eResearch Platform (SeRP) and Dementias Platform UK (DPUK).
Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing
The Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) was established in 2012 by Professor Perminder Sachdev and Professor Henry Brodaty, to conduct innovative research and provide the empirical basis to prevent and treat dementia and achieve healthy brain ageing for all Australians. It is an international centre of excellence in multidisciplinary research into the ageing brain, emphasising implementation, capacity building and translational research. DPAU represents a major capacity building activity, enabling more efficient data access and collaboration across multiple studies.
Our Partners
Dementias Platform UK (DPUK) was funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) in the UK to facilitate and accelerate the discovery of new ways to understand, diagnose and treat dementia. This public-private partnership offers access to detailed information for over 3.5 million individuals, from more than 50 long-term studies of health on the DPUK Data Portal (part of UKSeRP). By joining data from all these studies, DPUK provides an integrated and collaborative environment, bringing together scientists to share knowledge and conduct joint research programs. DPUK also runs a program of cutting-edge experimental medicine and a ‘trials delivery framework’ to match public volunteers to the most appropriate dementia studies. DPUK, a partnership between Oxford University, Swansea University and more than 20 other academic, private and third sector organisations, has generously shared its know-how, resources, templates and best practice procedures to enable the time- and cost-efficient set-up of DPAU. We are exceedingly grateful to be able to leverage off their experiences to accelerate dementia research in the Asia-Pacific region.
Monash SeRP
Monash University partnered with Swansea University in the UK to establish Monash Secure eResearch Platform (SeRP) in 2018. Monash SeRP is the first large-scale deployment of SeRP outside of the UK. UKSeRP has long been the gold-standard safe and secure eResearch platform, providing a high-powered secure environment for processing, linking and sharing research data for collaboration and analysis, within the control and governance of the data custodian. UNSW Sydney and Monash University are partnering to establish DPAU on Monash SeRP.
